Fuel Engines
An engine converts the chemical energy of fuel into mechanical energy through the combustion process. The mechanical energy/work is used to operate other machinery and equipment.
There are many applications where engines are utilized. In power generation applications, the engine drives the alternator rotor and the mechanical energy is converted into electricity (electrical energy).
Per the new requirements prescribed by the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), the gas engines are required to be field approved to CSA B149.3 Code. A new section 17 has been added to the 2020 version of the Code that has requirements for engines.
